Bloomsbury is a fashionable residential area in London's West End made up of Georgian terraces and leafy squares. It came to the world's attention in the early years of the 20th century thanks to the Bloomsbury Set - a loose collection of intellectuals, the most famous of whom was the novelist Virginia Woolf. They achieved notoriety thanks to their liberal views, and the area still retains some bohemian character.
